About Us

The Collectors of Wood Art is committed to the development and appreciation of studio wood art, including turned objects, sculpture and furniture, among collectors, artists, educators, art critics, galleries, museums and the general public.

The organization achieves its purpose by ---

  • Facilitating communications among collectors, creators, educators, art critics and exhibitors of studio wood art.
  • Advancing scholarship in the field of studio wood art.
  • Encouraging artists to expand the creative boundaries when working in the medium of wood.
  • Promoting awareness and educating the general public about the studio wood art movement.
  • Educating collectors in the acquisition, display, documentation and conservation of studio wood.

Founded in 1997, the Collectors of Wood Art is a non-profit organization that encourages education and excellence in the field of studio wood art and heightens awareness of wood as a medium of artistic expression.

The organization's membership is comprised of collectors, artists, educators, art critics, art galleries and museums interested in the field of studio wood art.  A board of directors and an executive committee of volunteer members govern the organization, implement its mission, and plan its events and programs.
