CWA Visiting Artists Program...
A Call to Universities & Colleges to submit Grant Applications

The Collectors of Wood Art Educational Outreach programs are committed to the development and appreciation of studio wood art (including, but not limited to, turned objects, sculpture and furniture) among collectors, artists, educators, art critics, galleries, museums and the general public. These programs seek to:

  1. Promote awareness and education of the general public about studio wood art.
  2. Advance scholarship in the field of wood art.
  3. Encourage communication among collectors, creators, educators, art critics and exhibitors of studio wood art.
  4. Educate collectors in the acquisition, display, documentation and conservation of studio wood art.
  5. Encourage artists to expand creative boundaries when working in the medium of wood.

The CWA Visiting Artist Program (click here for more details and the application process) encourages education and excellence in the field of wood art by annually offering grants to colleges and universities with a current wood art program. The objective is to enable these institutions of higher learning to expand their art program by inviting wood artists to share their knowledge, to discuss the sources of their creativity, and to demonstrate their skills, thus widening the exposure of students and faculty to wood as an artistic medium.

The CWA General Grant Program (click here for more details and the application process) provides funding for projects sponsored by nonprofit organizations that promote the development and appreciation of wood art.

The CWA Wood Art Resource Program (click here for more details) provides publication resources to museums, colleges, universities and art schools for their libraries. The objective is to expand the reference resources available to museum staff, students, faculty, and the general public in the field of studio wood art.
